Statues at Notre Dame Are Moving

Cut and Pasted from The Cleveland Leader by Dan Couglin.

The statues of Lou Holtz and Ara Parseghian will be relocated from inside the football stadium to outside as part of an overall theme. Statues of two other coaching greats also will be moved to new locations outside the stadium.

The grand plan is to name four gates after four national championship coaches, which will entail moving their statues.

The new locations are:

Knute Rockne -- North end of tunnel

Ara Parseghian - Southeast Gate

Frank Leahy -- South Central Gate

Lou Holtz -- Southwest Gate

The moves will be done before graduation later this spring.
All four larger than life statues, by the way, are the work of sculptor Jerry McKenna (ND '61) and St. Edward High School ('56).

Maybe Devine and Kelly could be added in the near future.
