Irish 5-0 Start What Does It Mean?

Respected blogger Omahadomer over at Rock's House on the NDNation website posted the below list.  The list notes the final record and final AP ranking AFTER A 5-0 START.

Year   Final record   Final AP ranking

1964       9-1                 3

1966       9-0-1              1

1970       10-1               2

1971       8-2                13

1973       11-0               1

1980       9-2-1              9

1988       12-0               1

1989       12-1               2

1993       11-1               2

2002      10-3               17

First of all, only ten  5-0 starts since 1964.  Second, three first place finishes and three second.  Not too shabby.
