SAS anticipated and reported it here eons ago.
The question in everyone’s mind is that can Michael have an All-American and possibly Heisman Trophy type year? Can he handle the double-teaming and cheap shots and still catch enough passes and score enough touchdowns to win the coveted Heisman Trophy?Who was the last wide receiver to win the Heisman? Who before that? Well this is not the Wizard, so here are the answers.
Desmond Howard – 1991 – 154.9 all purpose yards per game and 23 TD’s
Tim Brown – 1987 - 167.9 all purpose yards per game and seven 7 TD’s.
Officially, Brown won the award as a wide receiver but played flanker. Both won the award on the basis of rushing, receiving, punt and kick returns, although Howard did have 19 receiving TD’s.
Historically modern-day pure wide receivers like Michael Floyd are not in the running for the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
We will be satisfied with Michael setting the single season receiving record at Notre Dame 93 (2009).
And
Total career receptions Jeff Smaarjzija (179 (2003-06)Greedy aren’t we?
